Labour

We find the people, and we deliver them

Lean Workforce is the labour and recruitment arm of Lean Mining. We currently supply skilled trades and technical people to sites across Central Queensland, the Bowen Basin, New South Wales and the Northern Territory — short-term cover, embedded crews, permanent placement and international recruitment. We can deliver personnel anywhere across Australia and Papua New Guinea.

What separates us is where we come from. Our parent business plans maintenance work and builds the systems behind it. We recruit for the roles we have held ourselves. So when a team tells us what they need, we already understand the roster, the systems, the plant and the standard. That is the difference between filling a vacancy and fixing a gap in the crew.

  • Tailored workforce solutions
  • Flexible labour hire (short term and embedded long term contractors)
  • Permanent placements
  • International specialised labour recruitment
  • Comprehensive visa sponsorship support for specialised labour
  • Technical labour recruitment
We don't send you résumés. We send tradespeople who can pick up the tools on day one, hold your standard, and still be there in six months.

Every placement is screened by people who have supervised the same work. We reference-check trade competency and reliability, not just dates of employment.

How you engage us

Five ways in

Short-term labour hire

Shutdowns, peak workload, leave and vacancy cover, against a defined scope.

Embedded crews

Continuous-roster contractors working as part of your team, with supervision and support from us if required.

Permanent placement

Sourced, vetted and delivered against your standard — trades, planning and technical roles alike.

International recruitment

End-to-end visa procedure guidance and sponsorship support for hard-to-fill trades.

Workshop and off-site support

Machining, fabrication and component work carried out away from the constraints of your site.

Not sure which you need?

Sometimes the answer isn't more people. Our consultancy arm can assess how the work is planned and scheduled, and build efficiency into what you already have.

How we work

Understand the work, verify the person

Whether it is one refrigeration mechanic for a fortnight or a crew embedded on a continuous roster, the process is the same.

  1. Scope the role properly

Tickets, systems, roster, site conditions and what "good" looks like on your crew, captured before we advertise anything.

  2. Source and trade-test

Screening by people who have run maintenance teams. We reference-check trade competency and reliability, not just dates of employment.

  3. Verify compliance

Licences, tickets, verification of competency, medicals and site inductions confirmed and recorded before mobilisation, never self-declared.

  4. Coordinate the start, where that sits with us

Travel, accommodation, PPE and site access arranged when we are engaged to handle them, so day one is a working day rather than an admin day. Where your own systems cover it, we work to those instead.

  5. Hold the crew together

Regular contact with both the worker and your supervisor. Issues surface early and get dealt with. We measure ourselves on retention, not placements.

  6. Review and adjust

Scope, roster and coverage revisited as the work changes, so you are not carrying people you no longer need or scrambling for people you do.

Safety

A safety culture, not a safety policy

We select people who take the standard seriously, brief them properly before they walk through the gate, and back them without hesitation when they stop the job.

Our people know the expectation, and they know we will not undercut them for raising something. Tickets, licences, medicals and inductions are verified before anyone mobilises, and incidents, near misses and hazards are reported through to your systems.

Compliance & assurance

Nobody mobilises until the paperwork is real

What we hold and track

  • Trade licences and tickets sighted, recorded and monitored for expiry
  • Verification of competency confirmed against the actual task, not the job title
  • Pre-employment and site-specific medicals as required by your standard
  • Right-to-work and visa status verified for every placement
  • Site inductions and access arranged ahead of the first shift

How we work with your systems

  • Worker records loaded into your contractor management system
  • Roster and coverage design aligned to fatigue and WHS obligations
  • Incidents, near misses and hazards reported through to your systems
  • Public liability, workers' compensation and professional indemnity cover held
  • Certificates of currency and licence registers provided on request

Why Lean Workforce

Four reasons sites keep calling us back

Maintenance people hiring maintenance people

Our directors have held maintenance manager, superintendent and planner roles. We screen on trade capability because we know what the job actually demands on a shift, not what it looks like on a résumé.

Compliance closed out before mobilisation

Tickets, licences, medicals and inductions verified up front. No surprises at the gate, no lost shifts while paperwork catches up, no scrambling on the morning of a shutdown.

Retention over volume

We would rather place people who stay than people who churn. Continuity protects your compliance rates, your production plan and the knowledge your supervisors have already invested in building.

A consultancy behind the crew

If the vacancy turns out to be a symptom of something bigger — planning, master data, maintenance strategy — the capability to diagnose and fix it sits inside the same group.

Track record

Examples of current work

Client and site names are withheld as a matter of policy.

Site & camp services

Refrigeration technicians

Licensed refrigeration mechanics for site services, process cooling and camp infrastructure — an ARCtick-held trade group that is consistently hard to resource in regional Queensland, and one we hold depth in.

Processing facility

Embedded trades crew

Skilled trades supplied on a continuous roster under a 12-month contract, working alongside the client's own maintenance team, with no turnover in the crew since mobilisation.

Mining client

Permanent placement, planning

Permanent planning roles sourced, vetted and delivered to support the client's long-term development plan for its maintenance team. All are integrated into the organisation and contributing.

Site & camp services

Plumbers and certified gas plumbers

Licensed plumbers and gas-certified tradespeople covering site services, potable and waste water systems, and camp infrastructure — to the same verification standard as every other placement.

Mining supplier · workshop

Heavy component machining

Machinists supporting overhaul and repair of large mining components — manual and CNC work held to OEM tolerance, where a rejected component means a fleet asset stays down.

Multiple sites

Shutdown and peak coverage

Boilermakers, fitters and supervisors against defined shutdown scopes, with compliance closed out ahead of the window so the crew is productive from the first shift rather than the second.

Careers

Stop being just a number
